This test and report also help the developer determine how to define the lot lines concerning the lots.

Septic Inspections
Inspection of existing septic system which determines if system is legal; if system is up to code; if system meets the requirements of a failing system according to Rule 410; if system needs to be replaced, repaired or maintenance should be performed; what type of system exists, if any; condition and size of the tank, distribution box, and laterals or fingers; if perimeter drain is installed or necessary.
Why do a septic inspection?
$350
$500 (Includes a soil analysis if system needs to be replaced). |
IMPORTANT NOTE: If you do not want to do a septic inspection that is separate from a typical home inspection, you should at least do a soil analysis. Why? Every septic system will at some point in time fail. They are not designed to last forever and the system that exists will need to be replaced at some point in time. The soil analysis will be required before a septic system permit is issued. It would be to your advantage to know what the soil conditions are on the property prior to purchasing or selling the home. The soil analysis and the local county board of health will determine what type of septic system will be necessary for the site. This will give you an idea of what a new septic system will cost.
